Super.Vision Training Programme

Training in Supervision for Psychotherapists, Counsellors, Life Coaches, Social Workers, Guidance Counsellors and allied professions. This course will focus on Skills, Theory and Practice enabling participants to become competent in the supervision of individuals and groups of Psychotherapists and other professionals while working in a Humanistic, Integrative and Creative way.

Who Should Apply?

  • Psychotherapists / Counsellors who are beginning or have some experience in supervision
  • Psychotherapists / Counsellors who are eligible to supervise according to the requirements of IAHIP and / or IACP
  • Professionals in the helping professions who are responsible for staff supervision
  • Professionals in the helping professions who wish to gain a knowledge and skills in supervision

Course Content / Learning Outcomes:

  • To be aware of the goals, task and functions of supervision and learn how to work with them
  • To be aware of how individuals and groups learn and apply this to supervision
  • To become familiar with reflection and models of reflective practice as a learning tool & to develop the internal supervisor
  • To understand the theory and models of supervision
  • To be able to set up, contract for, maintain and terminate a supervisory arrangement effectively
  • To recognise and understand the supervisory and working relationships in supervision, including development of the supervisee
  • To help supervisees use supervision
  • Learn the skills of being a supervisor
  • To work with individuals, groups and organisations in supervision
  • To write supervisory reports and evaluations
  • To be ethically aware and be able to use an ethical decision making process

  • This course is designed to fulfil the 100 hours training for supervisors which is required by IAHIP.

Annie Sampson
MSc Supervision & Reflective Practice IAHIP / IACP Accredited IAHIP Supervisor

Annie trained as a Biodynamic and Integrative Psychotherapist and group facilitator and worked as a counsellor with the Limerick Rape Crisis Centre. She trained as a supervisor with Prof. Michael Carroll and has a MSc in Supervision & Reflective Practice from Essex University, UK where she conducted research into Supervision.

Annie maintains a private practice in Limerick where she supervises psychotherapists and other professionals on an individual basis as well in groups. She works as a trainer and supervisor with the Tivoli Institute in Mayo and with the MA in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy, University of Limerick.
